Set in the embattled country of Mendev, the narrative unfolds amidst a relentless series of wars waged against the Worldwound – a malevolent magical portal serving as a gateway for demons from the Abyss to infiltrate the mortal realm. These ongoing conflicts, aptly named crusades, face a daunting challenge as demons slain in the mortal world resurface in the Abyss, steadily tipping the scales against the forces of Mendev.
Players assume the role of a resident of Kenabres, a city perched on the fringes of Mendev. Surviving a harrowing demonic assault on their city, the player-character discovers an extraordinary source of magical power, referred to as “mythic powers.” Following the expulsion of demons from Kenabres, the player-character ascends to the position of Commander of the Fifth Crusade, an appointment bestowed by Queen Galfrey of Mendev.
Enhanced Edition introduces the following new features
